New Zealand is a small 3 Island Country with amazing scenic roads to everywhere. Every 30 minutes you will find amazing photo stops of something else to record. Landscapes that encompass in one view the snowy mouintains on one side, the farmlands or vineyards on the other and in the very close distance the Pacific Ocean on the East Coast and the Tasman Sea on the West Coast.
Flights into New Zealand arrive at Auckland, Wellington Christchurch and Queenstown. Your planned journey can start from any point of New Zealand you wish.
Your time in New Zealand is precious and planning to self drive between regions it is recommended that you follow certain routes, highways and off the road entry into the most amazing places New Zealand offers.
Here we are locals of Marlborough, living in the heart of the Wine Region of New Zealand, the largest in fact of over 80,000 acres (45,000 hecatares approx). Proud to share everything with you.
Direct flights from Auckland to Blenheim allow you to start in the South Island for your journey of the most dramatic landscapes you will every see in one place.
If you wish to travel down the North Island there are several routes and ways to arrive at Wellington to then fly over to Picton the Gateway to the South or take the seascape journey with the Inter-island Ferry into the Queen Charlotte Sound that will take your breath away.
Once in Picton choose to stay a night or two or travel 25 minutes through to Blenheim and where the wine of the best is waiting for you. Not to mention fabulous cuisine created by high end chefs. Local fruits and produce as Marlborough is still a great horticultural area and you will still see many sheep and dairy on your way.
To spend 2-3 days in Marlborough can allow day or overnight trips to Nelson and the Tasman Bay area and follow the West Coast route through to Franz Josef and Queenstown and of course Lake Wanaka and Milford Sound.
Another option is to take the East Coast Scenic route along the edge of the Pacific Ocean again with 3 d views of the ocean, the farmland and the mountains. Stopping at Kaikoura for Whales and Seals and of course the succulent crayfish fresh from the ocean.
Onward then over a short climb and then down into the Canterbury Plains (know for Canterbury Lamb that melts in your mouth!)
I could carry on with your journey ideas here on paper style, however set itineraries and routes are much better to choose from visually and hearing reviews and those before you..
It also reflexts too on your own lifestyle and what you wish to see and experience.
Note that tours are offered in most regions, therefore self drive or scenic journeys by train are set just with you in mind. Motor homes can be the way to travel with all you need aboard however a bit bulky top find your way to each regional hot spot saving time when you have just arrived. That is why a local guide can cover much more on the day.
Tours that are recommended in each region will also be referred within the itineraries.
